When to travel

This is so often overlooked our initial thought was just jump in then off you go, but with it being a RTW Trip we had to consider mountain & Desert regions, Monsoons & also the fact of season changes from North to Southern Hemisphere.So using the Travelers Handbook and chatting to friends and acquaintances' from the regions we would be visiting we created the following table ending up with a rough time of travel throughout our trip. We have set the departure date as the 7th August to start our trip being in Australia around January 2008 then S. America around October November to catch the summer in Chile moving north as the weather deteriorates in 2009 being in Central America April 2009. But we are keeping our plans flexible as John & Kerry from Lodzi.com found out they went for 11 months ending up taking 23 months. The idea is to take it slow and enjoy life, slow is cheaper & with a journey of this length cost is always in the back of our minds.Chart showing best times (or worst) times of the year to travel.
