After 22 years working anyone has had enough, so when Karen decided that she wanted to travel around the world I was up for it with views of lying on the deck of a yacht, Karen had news for me.

Karen wanted to meet & experience the people and cultures of the world so it was no Gin & Tonics on the deck, but overland for us. As a qualified Yachts Master & mechanic with a love of travelling I was happy to jump at the chance of this adventure.

We had to travel sooner rather than later and as we were not getting any younger so when a change in career presented itself and the thought of getting a job hurt it seemed like as good a time as any, so here we go.

At the age of 46 and not getting any younger, Andy and I found our lives were at a "Y" junction, do we keep the house and both work ? or do we sell up and travel the world ? ... well what would you do ?

So it was how do we do it? I like to meet people and I have always camped so doing it the overland way to me seemed the appropriate way.

We then found web sites of people who had travelled or were about to. We talked to them and ot ideas and information and "Hey presto!" ... the journey was beginning.
